Microsoft Now Expects to Sell 5 Million Kinects This Holiday Season
Kinect is almost here, and the anticipation is probably killing some gamers across America, and perhaps even more-so in Europe, where they have to wait until next week to snag one. It seems that the anticipation may be getting Microsoft too, as they’ve upped holiday sales expectations of Kinect from a modest 3 million to a slightly-more-out-there 5 million, as reported by Bloomberg’s tech news and then later confirmed by Aaron Greenberg.

So, either Microsoft has gone completely crazy, they’re counting on Ellen and Oprah helping them out a lot, or Kinect is actually really, really good. I actually have no clue how well Kinect performed with quality testing, or how many pre-orders there actually are, but I’m calling Microsoft’s bluff, however arbitrary it may seem. I don’t think they can do it. I think that 3 million is a respectable number to shoot for, but I think 5 million might be getting your hopes up.
Prove me wrong, Microsoft, prove me wrong.
