Samsung Galaxy Tab On Orange Pricing Announed

The UK branch of mobile carrier Orange has announced their pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet in the United Kingdom. The pricing seems a bit high to us, we think. In addition, Orange UK will also be preloading a few of their own apps onto the Galaxy Tab.

Those buying the Galaxy Tab from Orange on a one-year contract can expect to pay £499 ($801) up front for the tablet, while those who go with a monthly contract can expect to pay either £525 or £515 ($842 or $826), depending on which monthly tariff they go with.

Speaking of monthly tariffs, Orange is going with  a few base ones here. £10 monthly for 500MB of data, or £15 for 1GB, with an extra £5 for BT Openzone WiFi access. Those who are current Orange mobile or landline customers can take £5 off of each of those prices, which is a pretty nice move for the carrier to provide.

Regarding the Orange apps, there are a few:

• Orange Wednesdays – an app that lets you read cinema reviews, watch trailers and redeem 2-4-1 Orange cinema vouchers.
• Orange Maps – GPS navigation
• Your Orange – Something all the carriers have these days, a little app that lets you see your bill, manage the account, monitor usage, etc.

Orange says that the Galaxy Tab is available starting today, from select Orange retail shops. Needless to say, the Galaxy Tab is pretty expensive from Orange. We’d remind any English readers that the Carphone Warehouse is offering the Galaxy Tab starting at £100 ($160) with various plans. That may be easier on your wallet.
