Omar Hamoui, AdMob CEO, Quits Google For Good
Omar Hamoui is the guy behind AdMob, the mobile advertising company that sparkled both Google’s and Apple’s interest and that was purchased by Google in a cool $750 million deal. So you’d think that the former AdMob CEO would love his new job, under Google supervision, but that appears not to be the case.

In fact, no matter how you look at it, he’s not too thrilled to work for Google. The Mountain View-based company basically said that he quit for personal reasons:
“Omar has decided to leave AdMob and Google for personal reasons. He built a fantastic business in a short period of time, and we wish him all the best. Mobile advertising – across search and display – is now a billion dollar business for Google, with AdMob a key part of that. Google is fortunate to have a great team of leaders who are driving the next phase of rapid growth and innovation across all our mobile ads products.”
But let’s see here, who is really willing to quit from a business that’s bringing in lots of cash year after year. In fact mobile advertising is on a growing path and the more smart mobile devices we invent, the better that particular advertising business will do.
So, assuming that those personal reasons are not real for a second, he either was fired by Google, hence he wasn’t really pleased with Google’s business practice which eventually got him fired, or he simply quit himself since he wasn’t really pleased with the way Google deals with mobile advertising.
In case these personal reasons are real, then it might be a while until we see him back in the business, maybe heading some other, equally interesting, mobile advertising unit like Apple’s iAd. Let’s not forget that both Apple and Google squabbled over AdMob so Cupertino should be really excited to hire the CEO to improve its iAd business.
