Samsung Nexus Two Specs Leak

Android Insiders Let Slip Alleged Specs For The Next Googlephone, Allegedly Heading To T-Mobile US

The Android world is abuzz with rumors about this “Nexus Two” phone coming from Samsung. Granted nothing has been confirmed, but more and more rumors are starting to indicate that it could be coming. Case in point, AndroidandMe is reporting what is allegedly the full specs for the Nexus Two made by Samsung, and it’s allegedly packing quite the hardware.

Here is what AndroidandMe’s Taylor Wimberly is reporting that he’s hearing about the specs for the (alleged) N2:

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with regular Google UI
  • 1.2Ghz processor (no type mentioned, Samsung usually makes their own processors)
  • 4-inch Super OLED display
  • 5MP Camera
  • 512MB RAM, 16GB storage
  • Radio support for “multiple carriers” (remember that we saw the Nokia N8 had UMTS 3G support for European carriers and T-Mobile and AT&T here in the United States. We could see a similar thing happening here. Don’t count on it having CDMA and GSM radios).
  • Outer casing has both metal and plastic (this is important because the Samsung Galaxy S phones have light all-plastic bodies that some people didn’t like. I touched upon this in our review of the Sprint Epic 4G).

Multiple carriers are allegedly going to be carrying this phone, or at least are interested in it. And T-Mobile has allegedly already signed on board. Remember that T-Mobile was the first carrier to offer an Android phone, and the Nexus One first came out with T-Mobile 3G bands.

I can see this phone setting the bar for Android “superphones” for 2011. Remember the Nexus One came out early this year with a 3.7-inch OLED screen, a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM and that’s the standard by which all Android phones have been judged for 2010. I can see this fabled Nexus Two raising the bar to a 1.2GHz processor and 4-inch screen. Basically, if your phone is smaller than this or the processor is slower than this – you aren’t in the top tier.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S. This new offering looks rather similar, but with a slightly better processor. I’m definitely not jealous of developments yet…

No one said you and your galaxy S had to be jealous, your Galaxy S doesnt have much on the N1 so we sure arent jealous if thats what your saying.

All said Im pumped for this phone, esp if they are still getting better battery life every time. Mines good, def acceptable but room for improvement.
