Nintendo & Smartphone Market Not Happening, 3DS Main Concern [Nintendo Says 3DS On Their Mind, Smartphone Market Not So Much]

Reggie Fils-Aime is pretty confident about that.  Why, you would ask, for a company that got its start in playing cards and experimented with a taxi business, a love hotel chain (exactly what it sounds like), a TV network, food production (yes, Nintendo sold instant rice) over its long and storied two century plus history, are smartphones such a problem since they already have manufacturing capabilities, and all the other kids are doing it? Reggie doesn’t say, but he makes it clear whatever Nintendo gets into, it’s going in games-first: “certainly we are adding more and more elements to fill out the experience and take away more and more time from competing devices. But our handhelds will always lead with games.”

He also went on to say “3DS content will be dramatically unique to our platform, because I don’t think a smartphone manufacturer will invest to put a 3-D parallax screen in their device and not have the content to bring it to life.” Man, Nintendo is so lucky Barney Stinson doesn’t work for Sony. Or Dr. Horrible. Any fictional character played by Neil Patrick Harris, really, except for maybe Doogie Howser.
