Samsung Mesmerize Rooted In One Day [US Cellular's Galaxy S Phone Rooted In One Day, US Cellular Root Friendly?]
The Samsung Mesmerize was released yesterday. Today, it’s been rooted! The phone, a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S for mid-sized US mobile carrier US Cellular has already been quickly rooted by the team at AndroidCentral. But, it may have to do more with the carrier than the fact that Galaxy S has already come out a thousand different ways.

According to AndroidCentral’s Jerry Hildenbrand, US Cellular and Samsung have “done nothing” to block people from rooting the phone, and Hildenbrand was able to use a well-known exploit dubbed “ragagainstthecage” to quickly root the phone with a program named “SuperOneClick”.
Now, this may not mean that US Cellular wants you to root your phone, but the stance on this certainly more refreshing when compared to T-Mobile’s approach, per se, where the new T-Mobile G2 has a boot loader that will restore the original ROM if you gain root access on it.
Aside from the usual uses for a rooted phone, IntoMobile reports that some people have managed to get the phone’s CPU (and by that, I mean the Galaxy S) overclocked to 1.6GHz! That’s a big improvement from the default 1GHz speed, though I’d imagine the back of the phone will melt off if you ran it that hot.
Check out the root here. Any US Cellular customers planning on grabbing the Samsung Mesmerize?
