Kinect Sold Out At Amazon, Best Buy
Microsoft’s Kinect is coming in under a week, and it’s going to be one of the hot items of the video game holiday season. And so, nobody is really shocked (we don’t think) to see that Kinect has already sold out on Amazon.com and Best Buy. But, as supply could be questionable, you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt.

BusinessInsider is reporting that Amazon and Best Buy have both stopped accepting pre-orders for Kinect, which leads all to assume that they have sold through their initial stock of the new motion control hardware for the Xbox 360. Other major retailers GameStop and Wal-Mart are continuing to take online pre-orders. And of course, you may have more luck at your local retail store.
But, you’ve got to wonder how much supply is out there. A comment on another blog was saw was written by an (alleged) GameStop employee. He said that his store was only getting 10 Kinects and 2 Kinect Xbox 360 bundles for launch day. Unless he lived in Barrow, Alaska, we expect this to be indicative of nationwide stock for Kinect – so it looks like Microsoft not have a lot of the devices out there. I’d imagine that even national online retailers like Amazon might be getting a proportionally small stock (for them, anyway).
The Microsoft marketing campaign for Kinect is starting to fire up, too, so I imagine that this thing will be huge. How well people like it, and how long people keep playing it after they buy it (see: the Wii), remains to be seen. Remember that Kinect is coming November 4th and will cost $150.
