Palm Pre 2 In Canada: Spotted
Palm Pre 2 rumors had been circulating the past few weeks, culminating with Palm announcing the Palm Pre 2 last week. It didn’t take long for Canadian carrier Rogers to be attached to Palm Pre 2 rumors, and now, we’ve got (unofficial) confirmation that the Pre 2 is headed to Rogers. Website mobileSyrup posted spycam images of the Pre 2, in a Rogers box and running on the Rogers network.

Unfortunately, we can’t show you the picture. Rogers found out and wasn’t too happy, and the original tipster asked mobilesyrup to take it down, so rather than risk a lawsuit from Rogers, we’re going to decline posting it. But, trust us, it’s a Palm Pre 2 box with Rogers branding. It’s the real deal.
It was almost assured that the Palm Pre 2 was headed to Canada. While Verizon was known to snatch up the Pre 2, FCC regulatory filings showed that a version of the Palm Pre 2 with North American GSM UTMS frequencies was also submitted to the FCC. Excusing the narrow possibility that AT&T was picking up the Palm Pre 2, that meant that Canada was getting the Pre 2. We were tipped off that it was coming to Rogers via some commented out code on the Palm website.
It goes without saying that there is still no official word from Rogers about a release date, or pricing. To recap the Pre 2, it’s got a 3.1-inch screen, webOS 2.0, 16GB of storage and a 5MP camera. Great stuff.
