LG Octane For "Text Messaging Enthusiasts" Launches With Verizon Wireless

LG Octane Messaging Phone Arrives With Verizon, Brings 2.6" Display, 3.2MP Camera, Full QWERTY Keyboard & $99.99 Price Tag

Verizon has not only added the Pantech Crux but also the LG Octane messaging style phone. Two quick messaging phones in one day, not that bad. And nicely, the LG Octane features a hardware QWERTY keyboard, of which probably helps the fact that this is billed as being for “text messaging enthusiasts.”

As for the price, the LG Octane is priced at $99.99. And as you most likely expect, that price means a two-year agreement. Though, it also comes after a $50 mail in rebate for those who make the purchase in a retail store. Otherwise, those shopping online will see the $50 taken off as an online discount. Personally I would suggest grabbing this online, but then again, I cannot stand waiting for those rebates to come in the mail.

Moving past the purchase details and into the features. The LG Octane has a 2.6 inch (320 x 240) display on the inside and a 1.76 inch (220 x 176) display on the outside as well as a full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, 2.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot and dual speakers for stereo sound.

In terms of the camera, that is 3.2 megapixels and offers goodies to include five picture resolutions, two video resolutions, a 2.98 times zoom, Intelligent shot, Smile shot, the ability to customize brightness, balance, shutter sounds, an image editor, dual display activation for taking self portraits and a Panorama setting that takes three guided sequential pictures.

Other perks of the Octane include an HTML web browser, Visual Voice Mail, updated BREW mobile email client, support for Skype Mobile and the Social Beat widget which offers Facebook, MySpace and Twitter integration. Lastly, the Octane measures in at 4.21 x 2.16 x 0.63 inches, weighs in at 4.5 ounces and supports the wide variety of Verizon services which include VZ Navigator, Media Center, Family Locator and V Cast Music with Rhapsody. Though worth mentioning is that those services often come with additional monthly charges.
