BeoVision 10-32 Emerges From Bang & Olufsen
If you’re anything like me, you’ve seen the name Bang & Olufsen around, and occasionally wondered about these guys. Turns out they’re huge in Denmark, among other places, and they bring out a lot of different products–if you were to call it the Samsung of Denmark, well, you’d probably get a few askance looks and some mutterings of “Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly, but…” because it’s at least a fair analogy. But whether you’re familiar with them or they’re new to you, they’re bringing out a new television which we’ll have a look at today, the BeoVision 10-32.

It’s been a while since we last heard about a television from Bang & Olufsen, but this time, it’s the equivalent of a bargain version, or at least as close as we’ve seen yet to a bargain version. Anyway, the BeoVision 10-32 is a 32 inch LCD television with edge-LED backlighting, a DVB-HD module, a set of onboard speakers (Bang & Olufsen, for its part, proclaims that the sound quality is “quite superior…(for) this size”, three HDMI ports to hook up your gear and even a motorized stand for it. You’ll even have a pair to choose from.
All of which is fine and well, of course–it’s not like they’re trying to skimp on the quality, but rest assured that something is rotten in the state of Denmark. That something is the price tag; they’re looking to get about $5500 US for this big fella (4000 Euros).
Considering that you can get some really nice, and significantly larger, televisions with complete home theater speaker setups for less (even Best Buy’s Magnolia line doesn’t go that high–a quick look showed one of the new Sharp Aquos Quattrons weighing in at under $4800 US, and that a 60 inch besides!) it’s hard to tell where Bang & Olufsen thinks they’ll succeed in this, but then, things are likely quite a bit different in the European market.
