Is Apple In Talks to Buy Spotify?

Spotify Almost Bought By Google Now Targeted By Apple?

Rumors have been swirling for the past couple of days that Apple might be in talks with top executives at European music share site Spotify, in an attempt to purchase the service. This would not be the first music site Apple has bought out.

Most sources now are saying that while buyout talks between Apple and Spotify occurred they are very much in the larval stage and specific dollar amounts have not even been discussed yet.  Furthermore Spotify execs have denied the rumors.   More interesting is that this is not the first time Spotify has reportedly discussed a buyout. In 2009 Spotify and Google were reportedly very close to signing a $1 billion deal that would have given Google all of Spotify’s music rights. In the end the deal fell apart because Spotify would not allow a grandfather clause to be inserted into the contract.

Google and Spotify’s deal was being discussed around the same time that Apple was buying another music service known as LaLa.
