Google Nexus Two Coming in Europe by Christmas
Well this is interesting, Google is apparently in the business of launching a new Google Nexus Android handset, the Google Nexus Two, despite saying that the Google Nexus One was a one time thing, Google is now going to come out with a new Android handset right in time for Christmas.

The company will apparently launch this new Google Nexus Two handset in Europe initially and will work closely with Carphone Warehouse in order to avoid the hassles carriers can put smartphone manufacturers through. That is just a little strange considering that Android is open and Google loves the fact that carriers can add valuable pre-loaded apps to Android handsets, according to a recent statement. The phone will be a Carphone Warehouse exclusive in the UK and, if this rumor is based on actual facts, then it’s pretty clear that the Nexus Two will not be a best-seller phone, so why launch it in the first place?
Google made a clear statement with the Google Nexus One and showed us all how Android should look on a phone, but, since Android is open and all, no Android handset will run the Android version Google would want it to. So what’s the point of making another statement with a new phone that’s not going to be available from regular carrier channels, and therefore it won’t reach as many customers?
Since the Google Nexus Two would be available from Carphone Warehouse in the UK you won’t be able to get it for a subsidized price when bundling the phone with a new 2-year contract. That means the Google Nexus Two will not sell in the same manner the iPhone or the Samsung Galaxy S (for lack of a better Android example) are currently selling so Google can’t be creating it for making a lot of profit off it either.
So if the Nexus Two isn’t going make to make a statement and if it isn’t going to bring Google boatloads of cash, what is its purpose? Just to prove Eric Schmidt lied earlier this summer?
And since we’re asking all these questions, we also wonder who will create the Nexus Two. Is it going to be Motorola like previously rumored? Apparently HTC and Samsung aren’t making it so it better not be LG; no offence there, LG but you really haven’t proved yourself in the Android business!
