Castlevania Lords Of Shadow Almost Cancelled, Kojima Reassured Konami

Konami Almost Cancelled Castlevania Lords Of Shadow Twice

If you’ve ever been a part of game development, you know how tenuous it can all be. Until you hit First Playable at the very earliest, there is almost always a palpable sense that it’s all held together with Scotch Tape and spit. And even if there is at least one person who sees the game as it’s going to be (because if there isn’t at least one you might as well give up on it anyway), if they can’t continually reinforce that idea in the other team members, again, you might as well give it up anyway.

That’s why it warms our hearts to read about a passionate developer who braved two cancellations and managed to bring home a successful reworking of a beloved franchise. Even if it isn’t a transcendent masterpiece, it’s a solid foot forward and transition for the Castlevania franchise and that’s hard enough to pull off. “If it’s the last thing I ever do, I’ll be totally happy with that. I’m proud to have my name associated with this game. All the people I worked with on this game sweat blood and tears. We cried together. It’s got soul.” We know, because you can always tell the ones that do.
