Call Of Duty: Black Ops Pre-Orders Topping Amazon Charts
A few weeks ago, we told you about how Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-order sales have already surpassed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders and (back then), it was still a few more weeks before the game’s release date. Pre-orders for the game are still flying in and now Black Ops is becoming one of the most popular items on Amazon, and not just in video games.

CrunchGear’s Nicholas Deleon, citing sources inside Amazon, says that the pre-order numbers for Black Ops continue to rise. It’s already passed (as mentioned) Modern Warfare 2, Halo: Reach and Red Dead Redemption. But, it gets better. Black Ops is doing better than many big ticket non-gaming items. It’s even on a pace to beat pre-orders for the DVD copy of Michael Jackson: This Is It, and we all know how people went crazy over that.
Some of us are really impressed that Black Ops is doing this well. Sure, it looks like a fine game. But it’s not in the “main” line of Call of Duty games. It’s being developed by Treyarch, which is traditionally been Activison’s “B Team” for CoD games. I guess this shows that the average consumer doesn’t care about any of that – he just knows that there’s a new CoD game coming.
Just to briefly recap, Call of Duty: Black Ops is coming on November 9th for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. It takes place during the Cold War, somewhere that the Call of Duty has never gone before, with an emphasis (seemingly) on the Vietnam War. Should be a big game for 2010.

No doubt a huge chunk of that are die hard COD fans that recognize Treyarch is (re)adding in support for dedicated servers that the MW2 game intentionally left out. Obviously written from a PC gamer perspective. I would love to see the breakdown on PC Game sales for Black Ops compared to MW2 last year.
Mine is pre-ordered as well. Looking forward to it.
@Paul,
For PC gamers, definitely, Black Ops is a huge improvement.
