Asus Offers Mouse With Capacitive Touch Top [New Asus WX-DL Mouse Offers Extra Controls Built Into The Mouse's Top]
Admittedly, computer mice aren’t the kind of thing a lot of people pay too much attention to. Sure, it’s one thing when they’ve got game licensing or things like that, but a little extra utility goes a long way. And that’s just what Asus has prepared for us with its offering of the Asus WX-DL.

The folks out at Asus aren’t letting any grass grow under their feet following the announcement of their breakup with Garmin–quite the contrary. They’re putting up new products in rapid fashion, and the WX-DL is just one. It’s a mouse, as I mentioned, but with a special capacitive touch top that’s got extra controls built into it.
More specifically, the WX-DL (the DL is apparently its designer, David Lewis’, initials) is a wireless laser mouse that offers up not only the touch sensitive surface, but also a multimedia remote for things like your media players. You can see the play / pause button built into the front-most part of the touchpad, as well as the center mounted launch button.
The mouse itself, for its part, carryies a 1200 dpi laser sensor and a 2.4 GHz wireless connection.
Mac users will be out in the cold on this one, as the WX-DL is only compatible with Windows PCs, though its $80 price tag will likely keep some interested folks away from this one. It’ll be left to you to decide if you’re willing to pay $80 for a wireless mouse that serves as a multimedia remote–frankly, I don’t look for sales on this one to be any too brisk given the current economic environment, especially when wireless mice aren’t that pricey to begin with and, even if they are, wired USB mice are dirt cheap.
But still, it’s a nifty idea, even if the commercial success isn’t all that hot.
