5-6 HP/Palm webOS 2.0 Devices (Smartphones & Tablets) Coming in 2011? [HP & Palm Are Now Rumored to Launched 5-6 New webOS Devices Next Year]
Just a week ago the first webOS 2.0 handset was quietly announced by HP and Palm. Surprisingly for some, we saw the Palm Pre get a successor, the Palm Pre 2, which started selling in France via SFR and is heading to both U.S. and Canadian markets soon.

But while the Palm Pre was supposed to be the first real iPhone-killer and thus Palm and the press built lots of buzz around its launch, the Pre 2 is no such thing. In fact we’re really surprise to see HP and Palm launch what looks to be a flagship device in Europe first without any clear launch dates for the USA. The Palm Pre 2 seems more like a rushed device, a handset both HP and Palm wanted to have in stores this Christmas than a best-selling handset meant to bring webOS 2.0 and HP/Palm back in the mobile business.
But the Palm Pre 2 is not going to be the only webOS 2.0 device out there and, in fact, we expect much better handsets and tablets to arrive next year. A recent report is saying that HP and Palm will have no less than 5-6 devices in stores next year, and that’s what we’d love to have more details about. Palm has apparently struck deals with Foxconn and Compal and the two suppliers will be responsible for making the next webOS 2.0 devices.
Foxconn will make 4-5 devices, including the webOS tablet while Compal will be responsible for one more device. At this point it’s not known what kind of smartphones Palm will launch next year but considering the Android and Windows Phone 7 designs available in stores today we can definitely assume Palm will come up with some very similar handsets. The image above isn’t showing actual Palm webOS 2.0 devices but it’s only logical to assume that some of the future smarpthones and tablets Palm will make will look like the ones in the picture at least to some extent.
Anyone interested in the Palm Pre 2?
