Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Now Official, Arrives With 1TB Of Storage & $199.99 Price Tag

Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Features 1080p Streaming, 1TB Of Storage & Ethernet Connectivity

Details for the Western Digital WD TV Live Hub leaked a little early, of which we mentioned them just a few days ago. Well, the good news as of today is that Western Digital has come forward with the official announcement — the WD TV Live Hub set-top box is available for purchase as of today.

Needless to say, the details and features that were included in that earlier post have turned out to be accurate. Granted, given the way they leaked, we were fairly certain that would be the case however we do have something new to add — the price, $199.99.

All things considered, the WD TV Live Hub seems like a decent deal, especially for a nicely designed set-top box with 1TB of internal storage. But like all good things, there is one item missing — integrated Wi-Fi. Sure for some the included Gigabit Ethernet connectivity will be a better option, but for some who may not be looking to (or cannot) run cables that could be enough to turn you away. But just in case you still want the WD TV Live Hub and need wireless connectivity, a Wi-Fi adapter will be available.

Otherwise, the WD TV Live Hub will have support for full HD 1080p quality streaming using video formats to include .mkv, .mp4 and .mov. As for getting content on the set-top box, you can transfer directly from shared folders on a Mac or PC as well as from an external USB hard drive, thumb drive or camera and camcorder.

In addition there is also the integration with services such as Blockbuster On Demand, Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Flickr and who could forget Facebook. Aside from the Gigabit Ethernet, other connectivity comes in the form of HDMI, USB 2.0 and optical audio as well as composite and component video.

With that, the WD TV Live Hub can be found exclusively with Best Buy and will be available in all of their retail locations as well as online.
