Nexus One Support Forum To Go Read-Only

Google Doesn't Care About Your N1 Problems Anymore, Encourages Users To Head To General Google Mobile Forums

Google is known for their (sometimes) questionable tech support, and this latest bit won’t win them any fans. Their Nexus One was a great experiment on selling unlocked phones direct to the customer in the United States and the primary support method was the Nexus One forums. Now, even though there are still users out there with Nexus Ones, Google is closing by N1 support forums by turning them read-only.

A message on the Nexus One message board informs users that Google will be archiving the support forum, and suggests if you need further help, try heading over to the general Google Mobile forum. While some of us here at the TFTS headquarters are fond of Google, this is a pretty poor move on their part.

It’s clear that Google is done with the Nexus One and wants to wash their hands of the device. They’re retasked Google.com/phone as a general hub of Android phones and seemingly are moving beyond the Nexus One. What’s interesting is that they’re still offering the Nexus One as ADP3 (Android Developer Phone 3), and it’s being sold to Android developers via the developer store. I hope none of those developers have issues with the phone.

Maybe we’re being hard on Google. And it’s not like there isn’t plenty of places where you can get help with your Android phone. But, it’s clear that Google is moving at the speed of light and they don’t have time to deal with things like people who need help with their Nexus Ones.
