Apple iPhone 4 In White Sneaks Into Version 1.1 Of The Apple Store App [White iPhone 4 Appears In Apple App Store App, Sort Of Showing Available For Reservation]
Apple has offered up an update for he Apple Store iPhone app, and rather surprisingly — they still have not turned it into a universal app. Nor have they rolled out a specific iPad version, but that rant can be left for another day. As for this update, the app has been brought up to version 1.1 and while there were a few official changes and additions, there was one interesting little tidbit discovered.

First, the official changes.
- Add engraving and gift wrapping to select purchases from the Apple Online Store.
- Reserve products for pickup at an Apple Retail Store.
- Check in for reservations and request help within stores (iOS 4 required).
- Add Apple Retail Store reservations directly to iCal.
Some of these are a little more obvious and some such as the ability to add your reservation directly to your iCal. It almost seems like this was something that should have been done at launch. Either way though, it is nice to see the support arrive. The one here that strikes me as odd is the ability to request help from within stores. Personally it sounds like it would be simpler to just find an employee on the floor, but then again it has been a while since I last visited an Apple Store for anything other than a launch day event. In other words, maybe this is really saying something about their level on on-the-floor customer service.
Moving on though, a forum poster over at MacRumors discovered that the white iPhone 4 has made an appearance in the reservations section. According to the details given, you can navigate to Store -> Reservations -> Reserve Products -> iPhone and then see the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 in white. Granted, you cannot actually reserve it, but it does give the slightest bit of hope that you will be able to do so sooner rather than later. Or, one can hope anyway. But honestly, at this point it feels like we are going to see a Verizon iPhone before a white iPhone 4.
