Amazon Windowshop App Now Available For The iPad

Amazon Intro's Windowshop App For The iPad, Will Allow You To Browse, Save, Share, Purchase & More

Amazon has had an iPad app available for the iPad, and for the purpose of this post I am not referring the the Kindle app. Instead I am speaking of the Amazon Mobile app which allowed you to browse and shop. This app was first around for the iPhone and later brought over to the iPad as a universal app. Well, as of today it looks like iPad users now have another option for shopping Amazon — Windowshop.

The Windowshop app was just added to the App Store today, October 26th, and is only available for the iPad. In fact, the description notes is as being “designed and built without compromise just for iPad.” And for frequent Amazon shoppers, that is likely good news. Some may recognize the Windowshop name from a website (launched by Amazon) bearing the same name — www.windowshop.com. Of course, a visit to that same site today now points you to the iPad app.

As far as the Amazon Mobile app that was available, this new Windowshop app comes as a new app and new download. Personally, after playing with Windowshop for just a few minutes, it seems like most iPad users will be removing the Amazon Mobile app from their iPad. That said though, may of the things you could do on the Amazon Mobile app carry over, just being done in a nicer way.

As for the features of the Windowshop app, you can;

  • Access your existing Wish Lists
  • Save items to your Wish Lists
  • Share items using email, Facebook and Twitter
  • Use your Amazon Prime membership
  • Read product descriptions and view product images
  • Browse by categories and more

And last but certainly not least — make purchases by way of the Amazon 1-Cliick checkout process. Really though, while I already love this app, I have to fault Amazon for making it that much nicer to shop from my iPad, after all this more than likely means more Amazon purchases from me. But that is probably what they were after.
