iPhone 5 & iPad 2 New Jailbreak Tools Already Available?
PwnageTool, GreenPois0n, Limera1n are, in reversed launch order, the current jailbreak tools available in the wild, for any platform, Windows, Linux or Mac, and they will work on any iOS devices (except for the iPhone 2G) launched by Apple in the recent years.

All jailbreak methods include in one way of the other the Limera1n bootrom exploit found by Geohot, which means that the SHAtter exploit GreenPois0n was initially based on, gets to fight another day and won’t be addressed by Apple in a following hardware refresh. Since they are all based on bootrom exploits that means any jailbreak solution will work on all current iOS devices even after Apple releases iOS 4.2 next month as Cupertino won’t be able to patch them with a simple firmware release.
But today we’re not going to talk about the present but rather about the future, the very near future, in which we’re going to see Apple announce the iPad 2, the CDMA iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5, quite possibly in that particular order. While it’s too early to talk about these upcoming devices and their details, we have all the reasons to believe Apple will sell them at some point next year.
And while it’s too early to talk about future jailbreak tools and methods, we can’t disregard a recent rumor that says Geohot already has a jailbreak solution for the future. In fact it looks like Geohot has a new exploit that will help him offer us an untethered jailbreak in the future. In fact it seems that both comex and MuscleNerd, important figures in the jailbreak business, have confirmed the existence of this new jailbreak method.
Add to that the SHAtter exploit that GreenPois0n was supposed to use initially, also a bootrom exploit, and the future looks great from the jailbreak of iOS devices point of view. It’s the future of iPhone unlocking that we have no clear idea about yet.
But until the new iPad 2 or iPhone 5 are even announced, you’ll have plenty of time to experiment jailbreaking with PwnageTool, GreenPois0n and Limera1n, not that we’d ever advise you to follow that path anyway.
