Farmville Creator Faces Lawsuit

Popular Facebook Game, Farmville Found to Be Selling User Info Now Dragged Into Court

That certainly didn’t take long. Just days after users found out that their personal information was being sold after they used Farmville the maker of the popular game has been served with a class action suit. Zynga, which has also created other popular Facebook games, has been accused of violating federal law.

The lawsuit also alleges that the game developer violated their contract with Facebook by sharing the user information of upwards of 60 million users. The lawsuit is seeking monetary damages against the game company as well as an injunction preventing Zynga from continuing the practice which has come under fire. The lead attorney for the suit was on record as saying, “This appears to be another example of an online company failing the American public with empty promises to respect individual privacy rights.”

Zynga later responded through a press release saying “We believe that the complaint is without merit, and we intend to defend against it vigorously.”
