New World of Warcraft Cataclysm Trailer Out, Breaks New Ground In Nothing Whatsoever
Blizzard is just casually putting this out there, you know… if you’re interested. Not a big deal or anything. Anyway, on to the trailer. Rarely has Blizzard put out a more carefully crafted study in mediocrity, almost aggressive in its adequateness. The voice acting is appropriate, production values are about what you’d expect from the game industry’s premier cutscene makers and apparently they’ve gone for bland even in their movie references, for unless mine eyes deceive me there are more than a few homage shots to 2012 in there.
We’d probably just be going through the motions as well, were we to have followed our boyhood dreams, worked our way up in the industry to get hired by Blizzard only to work on the third expansion of an MMO that we’re probably going to still be working on when we hit fifty. To any future video game historians documenting World of Warcraft’s future inevitable decline, this is when Blizzard pretty much stopped caring.
