White iPhone 4 Release Date Still Unknown, Even If Phone Spotted in NYC

About a month ago, when we last spoke about the white iPhone 4 unicorn, Steve Jobs was saying that the phone will be released by Christmas time, that’s this Christmas, in case you’re wondering. Now we hear that one such white iPhone 4 has been spotted in New York which is really strange considering the phone is not officially out yet and you can’t get one, unless you’re an Apple employee testing it out in the wild.

As you clearly see in the image below, a white iPhone 4 has been scooped up and it seems the handset in question was photographed in New York City at a press release event.

More over the anonymous owner, although, those who know him might easily recognize him especially if they happen to have a hand, clothes of wedding ring fetish, told the photographers that snapped the images that, just like we assumed before, Cupertino has access to such white iPhone 4 units.

And just like we told you a few times in the past, the main problem with the handset is that the white panels don’t match the white home button. And since we know how Steve Jobs loves details when it comes to the general design of Apple products, we’re not surprised to see that such details prevent Cupertino from selling the handset. The white iPhone 4 units aren’t magical, after all, are they? So will they be available by Christmas 2010? Unfortunately this source wasn’t able or willing to reveal that tiny but important detail.

So if you’re interested in getting a white smartphone, from Apple you’ll still have to wait. In case you simply want a white smartphone then there are plenty of manufacturers that have been started to sell such devices. Plenty of BlackBerry handsets come in white and there are a lot of white Android phones in the wild: HTC EVO 4G, HTC Droid Incredible, Samsung Fascinate, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and more. Just pick one and let’s call it a day!
