Stuart Hughes Breaks the Bank Again On iPhone 4

Gold and Diamond-Bedecked iPhone Costs Millions

It’s bad enough, in some folks’ mind, to shell out $500 bucks for an iPhone that you’ll pay another couple hundred a month on to use it besides. But now, Stuart Hughes looks to break the bank wide open with his new iPhone 4, largely at the insistence of two Australian businessmen. The price tag? Eight. Million. Dollars.

What do you get for your eight million bucks, you wonder? Well, first off, of course you get the iPhone 4, which is arguably one of (some would say arguably is) the best cell phones on the planet with a huge array of features and applications available to it. Also–and where most of the cost comes in–they’ve been plated in a layer of gold, and then coated with a whopping hundred karats of diamonds. That actually represents about 500 individual diamonds.

It’s almost scarily ostentatious–can you imagine the horror of leaving that in a cab?–and probably largely unnecessary, but when you’ve got eight million dollars that you can afford to spend on diamonding-up a cell phone, chances are you don’t care much about having it stolen. Or you’ve got it insured…but what company would touch that? Either way, though, it’s impressive to look at, and that we can do for free.
