Sonic 4 Reviews Are In & the Results Are Surprisingly Good
It’s been two days since Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was released unto the masses, giving more than enough time for the reviews to start rolling in. For all of you hoping that Sonic 4 would be the blue hedgehog’s return to at least halfway decent gaming, it appears that you can breathe easy.

While it doesn’t appear that this will become the quintessential Sonic game, Sonic 4 for the PS3 does tout an average score of 80 on metacritic.com, which is much better than some of other Sonic’s titles, say for instance, Sonic Heroes (62 on PS2), Sonic Unleashed (54 on PS3) or Sonic and the Black Knight (54 on the Wii).
The general consensus among reviewers seems to echo the scores listed above – that is, while it isn’t quite as good as the Genesis-era Sonic games, it’s certainly better than most of the crap Sonic has been featured in at any point in the last 15 years.
My suggestion? If you’re a die-hard Sonic fan, grab a bottle of champagne and download this one, because Sonic games that are this well-rated are definitely few and far between these days.
