Redbox To Begin Renting Video Games
Already pushing movie rental competitors Blockbuster and Netflix, the company best known for their standalone movie rental kiosks is ready to test the video game rental waters. Redbox will start allowing customers from all over the country to rent Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and 3, Wii and Nintendo DS games through their movie rental kiosks later this month.
Redbox has actually already been renting out video games through their kiosks in select markets for quite some time but the company says it is ready to expand its test markets to more states in the Midwest and East Coast starting later in October.
Game rentals will cost $2 each day and as of now the game catalog is limited to newer releases but the process for game rental will be identical to their movie rental setup. Customers will insert their credit or debit cards, select a game and keep it for as long as they are willing to pay the daily charge.
