ECA to Hold Rally on Steps of Supreme Court

As the video game industry’s day before the Supreme Court draws nearer, the ECA announced plans to hold a rally on the steps of the courthouse the day the oral hearings are set to begin. The Entertainment Consumers Association are encouraging gamers to join them November 2nd to protest for the rights of gamers and the industry when the Supreme Courts begins hearings in the much-publicized case of Schwarzenegger v. EMA.

If you’re going to be in the DC area on the morning of November 2nd (and I imagine some gamers will make sure they’re in the DC area that morning), the ECA plans to begin their rally at 9:00 AM on the steps of the Supreme Court building.

The case is a challenge to a California law banning the sale of violent video games to minors, a law which seems harmless enough, but some video game advocates are worried that, due to the vague language of the law, the state of California could end up infringing on video game developers’ First Amendment rights.
