Wal-Mart Makes It Official; Apple iPad To Go On Sale October 15th
This latest bit of news comes more as confirmation then surprise, but at the same time we can put an end to another rumor — the Apple iPad is coming to Wal-Mart. And yes, this has been confirmed by the retailer.

According to the details that were provided to us, the iPad will be in “hundreds” of stores as of this Friday October 15th. And then, sometime around mid-November that availability will expand to “more than 2,300″ stores. Again, nothing overly surprising here as we have seen the rumors even reported by the likes of the WSJ.
It also seems as if Wal-Mart more than realizes the iPad will be a popular item this holiday season, touting that “Walmart welcomes the iPad — just in time for holiday shopping.” As for finding the iPad in store, that will come in the form of an “interactive and vibrant display case” found in the Wal-Mart Home Entertainment department and will include both the iPad and some Apple branded accessories. Most likely a case, dock and keyboard, though nothing specific was mentioned in terms of available accessories.
In addition, the iPad will also be sold by way of the Site to Store service which will allow you to place your order online and get free shipping to your local Wal-Mart location. That sounds good for those lower population areas where there may not be as many in the store.
Furthermore, the pricing. This will remain the same as what we have seen direct with Apple. In other words, don’t expect to see the happy face slashing numbers off the sign lowering the price. Bottom line, the iPad is coming to Wal-Mart and you can expect to pay $499, $599 or $699 for the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB iPad with Wi-Fi and $629, $729 or $829 for the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB iPad Wi-Fi + 3G.
