LG Optimus 7 & Optimus 7Q (Quantum) Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Announced

LG Unveils New Optimus 7 WP7 Series; Specs, Features & Pricing Available

Earlier today we saw the leaked LG Optimus 7, a phone that was made public a few hours before Microsoft and AT&T kicked off the official Windows Phone 7 event held today in New York City.

In the mean time, while the event got under way we received the official details of the LG Optimus 7 series line. It seems that there are two LG WP7 handsets ready to hit markets all over the world, the Optimus 7 and the Optimus 7Q, which turns out to be the LG Quantum that AT&T already announced today.

The Optimus 7Q/Quantum is a slider Windows Phone 7 smartphone that will offer you a 3.5-inch WVGA display, 1GHZ Qualcomm processor, full QWERTY keyboard, 16GB of storage, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and 720p video capture, quadband EDGE, triband HSPA and Windows Phone 7 under the hood. The phone will come to AT&T for $199.99 with a new 2-year contract.

The Optimus 7, the phone we’ve seen earlier today, is coming with a slightly bigger WVGA display, at 3.8-inch, 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and 720p video recording, and Windows Phone 7 under the hood. Unfortunately we don’t have any prices for it just yet, but they should be available in the very near future.

LG, in its extensive press release, seems very interested to convey a special message when it comes to these two new handsets: DLNA connectivity and multimedia sharing technology and the Play To feature. We’ll remind them that these two Optimus 7 devices are phones, which we’ll mostly use for our communication needs. DLNA is hardly a must-have feature for a smartphone, is it, smartphone fans?

“Play To lets users share multimedia files with other digital devices from the picture, video or music Hubs without having to access other menus.” That’s the official description of this particular feature and it will be interesting to see how much you’ll use it.

So what do you say, potential WP7 handsets buyers, will you choose the Optimus 7 or the Optimus 7Q/Quantum as you next WP7 phone?
