HTC 7 Pro Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Officially Announced For Sprint
The big news for Windows Phone 7 here in the US came by way of AT&T with the LG Quantum, Samsung Focus and the HTC Surround as well as T-Mobile with the HTC HD7 and the Dell Venue Pro. And given that Microsoft had already mentioned that there would not be any CDMA-capable Windows Phone 7 handsets available at launch, it came as little surprise that Verizon and Sprint remained quite.

However, while they were quite, we did receive word of an upcoming device for Sprint. The device was mixed in with a rather large HTC press release, and has the HTC 7 Pro coming to Sprint. Unfortunately, the release date is a fairly generic sometime “in the first half of 2011.” In other words, those hoping to use Windows Phone 7 on Sprint could be waiting until the end of July 2011. A long time, but on the positive side, that is better than anything we heard about Verizon.
As mentioned earlier in the post, the press release details were fairly generic about the HTC 7 Pro. The description was left as;
HTC 7 Pro
The development of the HTC 7 Pro was inspired by power users who want to combine the ultimate in business efficiency with the ability to take full advantage of their leisure time. The sleek handset slides opens and tilts to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for fast, comfortable typing, while productivity features such as the ability to sort, scan and manage Outlook email, open and edit the latest Office documents on the phone and keep track of the markets with HTC’s stocks application, offer new ways to maximize the business day.
With that, we can tell you that the HTC 7 Pro will come sporting a 3.6 inch (480 x 800) capacitive multi-touch display, 1GHz processor, 576MB RAM, 512MB ROM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1500 mAh battery, microUSB, 16GB of onboard storage and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash and 720p HD video recording. In addition, the HTC 7 Pro will measure in at 4.63 x 2.32 x 0.61 inches with a weight of 6.46 ounces.
Lastly, and as you can see from the above image, the HTC 7 Pro will also have a slide-out hardware QWERTY keyboard.
