AT&T U-verse Confirmed For Xbox 360
It’s been a few years since Microsoft promised us that the Xbox 360 would be able to function as an IPTV receiver. Now, on the heels of some recent rumors, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega confirmed that starting soon, the Xbox 360 would be able to act as a U-verse receiver.

This news broke a few days ago, when tech blog Engaget posted a leaked internal AT&T memo which indicated that the XBOX could be used as a U-verse set-top box, starting November 8th. Obviously, that looks like it’s now true.
For those out of the know, U-verse is AT&T’s IPTV solution. It’s DSL-provided cable (so to speak) and it’s AT&T’s (a phone company) answer to the “triple play” bundles that are being offered by the cable companies. (The cable companies cut out AT&T by offering VOIP-based phone services, so AT&T cuts out the cable company by offering IPTV. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there.)
This announcement was made at the Microsoft Open House event – the main subject of which is Windows Phone 7. TFTS is covering the event with instant coverage and analysis. Keep us in your RSS feed for more WP7 news.
