Verizon Intro's FiOS on Demand App For Select Smartphones
Verizon FiOS subscribers sporting an iPad may still be waiting for the rumored live television app that is expected, however in the meantime Verizon has offered up an official FiOS on Demand app for select Android smartphones as well as BlackBerry and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices.

Of course, this comes with some good and some bad news. First, the app will allow you to browse movies as well as buy, rent, save and even download to watch on your smartphone. And given that you can buy or rent it sounds nice. The catch comes in with device support — at present it is fairly limited.
According to the Flex View website, the device support is currently limited to the Droid X, Droid 2, BlackBerry Storm 2, HTC Imagio, Samsung Omnia 2 and Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets. Though, additional device support is in the works. Sadly, no mention as to which devices will be coming or when.
Otherwise, the apps are said to work over both Wi-Fi and 3G connections and are also able to be transferred to “up to” four other devices. Or five device in total. And thankfully, those devices also include computers and set-top boxes. Nicely, all set-top boxes in your home count as one, so you will not be penalized for moving from room to room in your house. And from the way it looks, there is an app download available for Mac and Windows computers.
In terms of the movies, the purchase is simple in that you buy and keep and can watch as often as you like. As for the rentals, they are actually pretty fair, you have up to 30 days to begin watching and then once started, they will be available for 24-48 hours from the time you first hit play. In other words, rent but do not hit play until you are ready to commit.
In the end, it looks like a nice option for having content while on the go, but at the same time I cannot help but think that more people will want to have the live TV app. That or, invest up front in a Slingbox and get the content that way.
