Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 Coming in Q1 2011. Again!

We’ve been over this countless times and it seems that the Wall Street Journal insists on focusing on the matter: the CDMA iPhone, made for Verizon, is coming at some point in early 2011 or very early 2011. Apple is apparently building the CDMA iPhone and will have it ready by the end of the year, which is definitely something we’ve heard before.

The Verizon iPhone, the unicorn we’ve been talking about for a long while now, is apparently going to be very similar to the current AT&T iPhone 4 model. We could have told you that much probably since Apple wouldn’t come up with an iPhone 5 and launch it six months after the iPhone 4 since there’s still plenty of iPhone 4 selling to be done, isn’t there?

Previous reports did say that Verizon’s first iPhone is going to be an LTE device. Other rumors also implied that the first Verizon iPhone will be different in design, although the only thing that is likely to change is the radio technology.

The Verizon iPhone will need to use CDMA instead of GSM and Qualcomm, as initially expected, seems to be the company that’s providing the CDMA components.

The Wall Street Journal goes on to say that Apple is already working on the next-gen iPhone, the iPhone 5, and we’re not exactly surprised by that either. What’s surprising in the report is that Apple is considering a different form factor for the iPhone 5. Is the current external antenna going to be scraped? That would be a very strange move since the antenna isn’t an issue, is it iPhone 4 owners?

Naturally, everyone involved in such a Verizon iPhone project is declining to comment, and by everyone I mean Apple, Verizon, Vodafone and Qualcomm. Which means we can expect more CDMA iPhone rumors to arrive in the near future. That’s in case Apple agreed to get with the program!
