Motorola Adds on Budget Phone, The Citrus
There’s been a lot of Motorola news to hit lately, so it’s hardly a surprise to find one more nugget about the comparatively simple Motorola Citrus. But though this is being called an entry-level phone, don’t look for it to be too simple to be useful.
The Citrus packs a three inch touchscreen display and Android 2.1 on a 528MHz Qualcomm processor. Interestingly, it’s carrying a lot of Bing functionality too (included are Bing Search and Bing Maps), and a trackpad on the back of the phone. Web apps and several social networking constants like YouTube and Facebook access are front and center here, and what Motorola’s really playing up is the “green” nature of the Citrus.
The chassis is made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, certified Carbon Free via carbonfund.org, is PVC and BFR free, the packaging is 80 percent recycled paper, and, as if that weren’t enough, the manual is 100 percent recycled paper with a thoroughly renewable soy-based ink.
It’s expected out by the end of the year with an as yet unannounced price.
