Samsung Galaxy Tab Tablet To Come Sporting Gorilla Glass
It should go without saying, but it seems to reason that (once available) many people will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet around with them. And of course, the more you use a mobile device, the greater the risk of dropping a mobile device. That said, those who will be using a Galaxy Tab can take some ease as Corning has officially announced that the tablet will come sporting Gorilla Glass.

Though, we should mention that just because the Galaxy Tab will have Gorilla Glass, that does not mean that nothing can go wrong. After all, the iPhone 4 is also sporting Gorilla Glass and I am sure many of you have seen an image or two of a shattered display. And as an interesting side fact, according to the press release coming from Corning;
“Corning Gorilla glass is currently designed into more than 225 mobile devices, and is an appealing solution for the emerging smart media device environment due to its scratch and damage resistance.”
One of just 225 devices. Furthermore, for those wondering what makes Gorilla Glass so nice, or more specifically, what the Gorilla Glass is made out of that makes it so durable.
“Continuing a tradition of more than 150 years of innovation in materials science and technology, Corning Gorilla glass is an environmentally friendly alkali-aluminosilicate thin-sheet glass designed specifically to function as a cover glass for high-end display devices such as notebook PCs, televisions, and mobile phones.”
So yes, an environmentally friendly alkali-aluminosilicate thin-sheet glass. And no I guess that does not really answer. But honestly, if they are telling me that it is more durable and more resistant to scratches and other damage — it sounds good to me. But in the end, I like the Galaxy Tab and would most likely not have my decision to purchase (or not purchase) decided simply because the tablet does (or does not) have Gorilla Glass.
