iPhone 4 Death Grip Damage Control Program Over, Bumpers Now Cost $29

Apple Starts Selling iPhone 4 Bumpers in Stores Again, No Alternative Death Grip Fix Rolled Out Yet

The fact that the T-Mobile G2 comes, apparently, with a couple of important issues right out of the box, besides being pretty troubling, reminded me how there’s one other, more successful phone out there with an important enough problem on board that should be in our thoughts at this time of year: the iPhone 4.

That’s right, September 30 went away and that was the last day Apple was ready to provide free bumpers or cases with every iPhone 4 purchase. The program lasted for over two months, in which time we’ll all agree that the Death Grip issue wasn’t one of the top headlines anymore. That’s partially because people started to wear rubbers that removed the non-issue, and partially because the iPhone 4 now shows correctly the number of signal bars.

We’ll also be pretty fair here and remind you that Apple will issue free bumpers to qualifying iPhone 4 owners on request even after the September 30 deadline. So if you suffer from those Antenna non-issues then go ahead, give Apple a call for a free bumper.

Those of you interested in bumpers for the iPhone 4 you’ll be happy to know they are on sale in Apple stores (not the online store though) for the regular, not-free-anymore $29 and they come in other colors than the free bumpers Apple gave away.

But since we just mentioned fairness earlier on, I think it’s only fair to remind you all that Apple did promise a different Death Grip fix after September 30. Wel, the company didn’t come forward with any kind of announcement just yet. Are we to imagine that the geniuses over at Cupertino haven’t been able to come out with any other Death Grip solution to a non-existent problem? Or is Apple staying silent intentionally, just so the media doesn’t start to inflate the problem like it did back in June and July?

So, have you recently purchased an iPhone 4 in the USA or a different country? Does it come with any signal issue that would require a free bumper? Hit us up in the comments section below with your overall iPhone 4 experience!
