Verizon Wireless Kicks Off Phone Trade-In Program

Looking For A New Verizon Phone & Have An Old Phone To Get Rid Of? Verizon Is Now Accepting Trade-In's

There are likely at least a half-dozen or more ways to ‘trade-in’ your old phone for some cash. You also have other sites such as eBay and Craigslist that will also take care of your needs. And now, coming by way of Verizon Wireless you have yet another to consider when parting ways with your old phone.

Personally I have (almost) always had good luck with selling my old phones on eBay. Though that ‘almost’ is there as I was once burned fairly bad. That aside though, the option to trade-in your phone with Verizon seems to not only take the pain of doing so away, but also the fear of getting burned in the transaction. Of course, on the flip side, you may not get as much from Verizon as you would with a private sale. I guess that is where the good and bad comes into play.

As for the program that Verizon is offering, first and foremost — your old phone does not have to be a Verizon branded phone. It can come from other mobile carriers, which would make switching carriers seem just a little easier.

In terms of using the program, start by visiting the website, which can be found at www.trade-in.vzw.com and clicking the “Appraise Your Device” button. From there, it is just four additional and what are described as “simple” steps to complete before you are done.

Step one consists of answering some basic questions such as the make and model as well as whether the display works, if it is cracked and whether or not you can make calls. Once that is complete you are given your appraised value. In my quick test, they were going to give me $132 for my excellent condition Droid Eris.

From there you have the option to accept and get a Verizon gift card or donate the device to HopeLine. After that you package, verify and then send the device off. All said and done it seems like a fairly painless process, though I am going to pass on trading in my Droid Eris, mainly because I am still under contract, but again, I would prefer the eBay route and get a little more in return.
