“Free Phone Fridays” Arriving At Best Buy Stores [Best Buy To Start Giving Away Phones Every Friday, Some Of Them Aren't Featurephones]
The folks at Best Buy have unveiled an exciting new promotion that should be rather epic. It’s dubbed “Free Phone Fridays” and like it sounds, they’ll be selling four different phones (one from each major US carrier) for free every Friday. Right now, they’re only saying it’s for the month of October, but who’s to say it won’t continue if it’s successful?

This Friday, the first week, has got a few interesting phones. From Verizon, they’ve got the Galaxy S Android phone – the Samsung Fascinate. From AT&T, they’ve got another Android phone, the HTC Aria. Sprint is offering the new BlackBerry Curve 3G. And, the odd-ball red-headed cousin of the free offerings – T-Mobile’s got the Samsung Gravity 3. I’m sure the Samsung Gravity 3 is a fine phone, but it’s a texting multimedia phone as opposed to the others, which are of the smartphone variety.
Needless to say, to get these phones for free, you need to sign a new two-year contract. The prices (or lack there of) will be offered at any Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, or at BestBuy.com. Best Buy will announce the four free phones on Thursday at 1pm, via their Twitter and Facebook pages.
Lately, Best Buy has been pushing themselves more and more as a serious phone retailer. They’re offering such services as “Upgrade Checker” where you can receive an e-mail when you’re ready for upgrade pricing on your carrier. Or, Best Buy offers “Walk Out Working” where you can have them set up your phone with your e-mail accounts, and everything and then ‘walk out working’ like the name suggests.
What do you think of Best Buy’s “Free Phone Fridays” program?
