Franklin Roadie Modular Music System Needs Room
Sure, the idea of a speaker that uses most any flat surface as a speaker diaphragm isn’t exactly new. But the folks behind the Franklin Roadie are taking this old idea and making it a little new again with this modular speaker system.
It’s a three-part system, all of which you’ll need to have to get the most out of the system, specifically the EVS-2000, the EVS-3000, and the EVS-4000.
Starting out with the base model, the 2000, you’ll get what amounts to a speaker with a 3.5mm input jack. Stepping up to the 3000 adds on a rechargeable battery with SD card slot, and then lastly, with the 4000, you’ll get a built-in tweeter and equalizer.
You’ll be able to pick up the lot of them fairly soon for $99.99 in one central bundle, but if you don’t want all the features (how much value is an SD card slot really when you’re likely playing off an MP3 player?) is an issue you can start out with the 2000 at $49.99 and the 3000 at $79.99.
