Apple Remote 2.0 Boasts Support For iPad and Apple TV
Most any given day, Apple’s putting out a whole lot of new products, rumors about same, and just plain old news. So it was scarcely a surprise to hear that the new version of Apple Remote would come packing support for Apple TV and the recently-released iPad.
But it wasn’t just new products that would find support–Apple Remote 2.0 would also bring support for the iPhone’s retina display and the new iPod Touch as well.
Apple Remote (and by extension, Apple Remote 2.0) lets you turn your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad into a remote control usable with iTunes or, now, Apple TV. You’ll need a Wi-Fi network in your house to use it, though, and any of the devices you use it with must feature iOS 3.1.2 at least to play. It’s especially useful with anything that’s got a QWERTY keyboard.
Sounds a bit draconian, I know, but assuming you’re capable of running the app, it’s yours free of charge from the App Store.
