SwiftKey For Android Leaves Beta, Priced On-Sale At $0.99 Until September 30th To Celebrate
Without getting super involved in the flame war between Android and the iPhone, one of the nicer points about Android is the fact that you can fairly easily customize many portions of the operating system. For example, there are numerous alternative keyboards available, just in case you are not a fan of the default.

And before anyone thinks ‘it is just a keyboard’ let me tell you, I used to feel the same way. That is until I began seeing what else was available. In my case I ended up getting stuck on Swype, however another option that I really like is SwiftKey. As to just what SwiftKey is? Well, it is a virtual keyboard that is described as being fast, accurate and intelligent. In short, it offers next word prediction, it can learn as you type and based on my use I can say it truly is fast.
And the good news — the team over at SwiftKey have recently announced that they have left the beta phase behind. The latest release brings the SwiftKey app up to version 1.0.763 and has brought quite a few new features and bug fixes.
First and foremost though, at present the SwiftKey app is on-sale for $0.99, which for those unfamiliar with the regular price, that is a nice discount from the usual price of $3.99. A catch with the price though, that $0.99 sale price is only valid until the 30th of September.
Moving past the price and into the new features. According to the SwiftKey blog those include;
- Simultaneous bilingual prediction
- Improved keyboard layouts, with numpad and first iteration of arrow key support
- Performance improvements, solving many lag issues completely
- Enhanced settings options, including disabling prediction behavior for hard keyboards
- Predictions shown in browser, search etc.
- Language module handling improved
- Voice recognition auto caps
And maybe not quite as exciting as the new features, there were also the bug fixes which included;
- Double word entry
- Mixed upper/lower case display
- Accented character handling
With that, as a $0.99 app this may be as good a time as ever to give it a try.
