Canon Shows Off X Mark I Mouse At Photokina

A Mouse With A Calculator In It From Canon

I thought much the same thing when I clapped eyes on this one–what on Earth is a mouse doing getting exhibited at the Photokina show? Monitors, sure. Cameras, of course. But a mouse? That’s just a stretch. Then I saw Canon was behind the X Mark I mouse, and it all fell into place.

Canon’s X Mark I mouse combines two important office tools into one simple to use (from the look of it, anyway) package–a mouse and a calculator. And while the whole package looks fairly large (which it would have to be to get all those keys in the top surface and still make them useful), it’s hard to deny that having a calculator in the same hand as your mouse is anything but worthwhile. It also boasts Bluetooth connectivity, a scroll wheel, and three mouse buttons.

I personally would’ve thought it a better idea if it acted as a number keypad, like you see on a lot of full-size desktop keyboards. Then it would’ve made a sweet all-in-one platform for your mobile gear. But still, the Canon X Mark I isn’t a half bad idea, and if you want one of these, you’ll be able to lay hands on it this November for around $63.
