Motorola Flipout With AT&T Branding Briefly Appears on eBay For $388.88

AT&T Branded Motorola Flipout Appears on eBay For Sale, Further Confirms Its Existence

Thanks to the open source nature of Google’s Android mobile operating system, hardware manufacturers far and wide are able to produce handsets powered by the software. At the top of the food chain are devices like the HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy S and Motorola Droid X. All three of these device feature large touch screens and some pretty noteworthy specs.

However, Android isn’t only good for high end devices like the ones I listed above as there are a whole slew of low end handsets also powered by Google’s mobile OS. Some may argue that these lower end Android powered devices should be dubbed feature phones but with the advanced workings of the operating system, they are far more powerful than what we’ve come to know as feature phone. Instead, they are simply underpowered Android smart phones with palatable price tags.

Motorola is certainly no stranger to such devices releasing handsets like the Motorola Backflip on AT&T. This device is a lower end Android smartphone with a 528MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and a QWERTY keyboard that flips from the back. Thanks to these low specifications, AT&T is able to sell the Backflip for just $49.99 with a 2-year contract, giving even consumers with a small budget a chance to get down on the open source mobile movement.

Another device that features a form factor as unique as the Backflip’s, also from Motorola, is the Flipout. We’ve heard about this device several times in the past and have gotten a pretty extensive look at its hardware. However, for some reason or another the device has yet to make its way to AT&T, which is the carrier it was/is expected to hit.

Despite this delay, a Motorola Flipout with AT&T branding has appeared on eBay with a $388.88 buy-it now price tag. Unfortunately, the auction has since ended but it does give us further confirmation that the device is destined for AT&T.

Now all we have to do is figure out when and we’ll be all set. Then again, is anyone even anticipating the Motorola Backflip?
