Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 Star Wars Edition Coming with 1.2GHz Processor on Board? [New Rumors Say Special Edition Droid 2 R2-D2 Star Wars Edition Android Has Better 1.2GHz Processor]
September is almost over which means that those of you that have postponed buying a Motorola Droid 2 to get the special edition R2-D2 model, can now get their cash ready as a special launch event for the Star Wars-themed Android handset is just around the corner.

There’s one more reason to prove that waiting for the Droid 2 R2-D2 launch wasn’t a totally bad idea, as it looks like this Droid 2 model is coming with a better processor. The word on the street is that the Droid 2 R2-D2 model comes with a 1.2GHz processor instead of the old and boring 1GHz CPU. Considering that the World Edition of the Droid 2 is also said to pack a more powerful processor, we’re not really surprised to hear the same thing about the R2-D2 model. We’ll still have to wait for the official press-release for confirmation since this improved processor is just a rumor for now.
The bad news here, and there’s always bad news with this kind of limited edition devices is that, well, they’re limited. Each Verizon store will be getting around 200 R2-D2 units and once they go, the stock will not be replenished. That means you’ll have to be among the first Star Wars fans to get an R2-D2 smartphone at some point after midnight on September 29.

Each store will apparently give 5 Motorola Droid R2-D2 models for free and you’ll have plenty of other reasons to head down to such a special Android party: Stormtroopers present at the store, video gaming, a live DJ and more, all according to BGR that got the picture above along with the extra information.
That’s pretty much all we know about these pending Verizon launch parties, but feel free to tell us more about them if you plan to attend or have more information about them.
