The Motorola Droid X has just received the Froyo update so many customers were waiting for. Furthermore we also showed you how to root the device running Android 2.2 and today we have more good news for you.

In case you have experienced messaging issues on the Droid X too then rest assured that Motorola will launch an update to fix the message issue in the near future. The issue came with the Froyo update so in case, for some reason, you’re still running Android 2.1 then you’ll probably not be affected. In fact not everyone with a Froyo Droid X on their hands experienced the messaging problem, but the main point here is that Moto is going to fix it soon.

So what’s the messaging problem then? Well it looks like both incoming and outgoing messages aren’t updated accordingly and some people complained about SMS notification issues too. Like I said, Motorola seems to be aware of all these specific Droid X problems and a fix is pending. Here’s what Moto said on their support forums:

Okay. I have news. I talked to our engineering team and it appears that this will require a software upgrade to correct it. They are already on it and seemed confident that they know the why and the how-to-fix. I don’t have any timeline on when an update will be released, but when I know more I will let you know.

Sorry for this trouble and thanks for all the good detective work and for reporting it.

As you can see, we don’t have a precise date for this particular update, not surprising really, but we can only assume that it’s going to be released pretty soon. After all, according to various studies out there, we tend to text more than we actually call people so such a messaging issue is pretty disturbing, at least for some folks out there.
