Windows Phone 7 Will Not Support Tethering
Well, this is a major bummer. Just a few days after the work got excited over tethering in Windows Phone 7, it gets taken away from us. Microsoft said in an official statement today that despite comments from the Director of Windows Phone 7, the phone won’t support tethering. What’s going on here?

As we (and every other tech blog) reported yesterday, the ‘director of Windows Phone 7′ Mr. Brandon Watson went on the Windows Weekly podcast with Paul Thurrott and Leo Laporte and chatted with them about WP7. He said during the podcast that WP7 would support tethering, but it would be up to the carrier to enable it. Now, Microsoft is doubling back on that comment.
In an official statement, according to BGR, Microsoft said (point blank), “Windows Phone 7 does not support tethering.” There isn’t really a lot of misunderstanding in that quote, and it’s pretty clear what they mean. You’ve got to wonder why the director of the whole project would say one thing, only to have it redacted via an official press statement later.
Some of us here at the TFTS offices are really starting to worry about Windows Phone 7. The device won’t have cut-and-paste, it appears to have a dumbed-down interface, and now no tethering.
What do you think about the lack of tethering? Does this change your opinion on Windows Phone 7? Tell us what you think in the comments section.

These are all not good signs for Windows Phone 7.
I use at most Microsoft (Developer) Technologies and i`am satisfied with all of them, at most.
But that Windows Phone 7 thing is curious. I don`t think it will get that much attention, Microsoft want.
It seems to go to a different target-group than iPhones or even Android Phones.
I would it set in the very same Category as the iPhone. Simple. Focused. Limited / Restricted. Featureless (compared to Android Phones).
So….. yeah. Android Phones, most without any Restrictions, whether it is hard- or software-restriction. I see them as a kind of “mini”-pc. Without limits, all is possible.
I think you can see the point…
I’m working from 12 years in a Microsoft Certified Partner and from the time of Compaq Ipaq with black&white monitor I’m using Windows Mobile. I purchase HTC Mozart 7 because my TytnII was died thinking to have a very powered phone but it’s not. I find very strange there is no tethering, so I think I will buy as soon as possible another TytnII to use all features I loved, for example Search in my Exchange Mailbox on the server, or install application without pay and browse internet with my netbook (windows 7 64 bit)!!! The Phone 7 is for babies, not for business use: photos, facebook and so on, but a business man as me is very sad had spent money for nothing
