Verizon Wireless R2-D2 Edition Droid 2 Launch Event Locations Listed

We already knew the R2-D2 Edition Droid 2 was going to launch on September 30th, and just this week we saw the first images of the stores beginning to get ready. We also mentioned that select stores were going to be holding special launch events. Well, the list of those locations have been made available.

Of course, while that sounds like good news for any Star Wars fan, that list of stores is not nearly as large as originally expected. Early reports were calling for the events to take place at 100 Verizon retail locations and now it looks like it is just a handful.

Some of the stores will be opening at midnight and some are just early, said to be around 6am. So without further adieu, here is the list of stores.

• Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City, UT
• Park Meadows in Lone Tree, CO
• Corte Madera in Corte Madera, CA
• Mountain view in Mountain View, CA
• Portland Downtown in Portland, OR
• Seattle Downtown in Seattle, WA
• Sports Arena in San Diego, CA
• Santa Monica in Santa Monica, CA
• Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, AZ
• Boca Park in Las Vegas, NV

Bottom line here, it looks like unless you live somewhere close to a large city on the west coast of the US you are out of luck. Shame, hanging out with a bunch of Star Wars AND Android geeks kind of sounded like fun. That said, those who can attend will be able to see (and take pictures with) the Star Wars characters that will be in attendance. Plus, anyone who buys a Droid will get a limited edition t-shirt and poster. And that is noted as ANY Droid as opposed to the Star Wars Edition Droid.
