Motorola Announces Flipout Android Smartphone Is Coming To Australia In Early-October [Motorola Flipout Making Its Way to Australia, Will Arrive By Way Of Vodafone]
Motorola has recently announced the latest Android device that will be coming available to those in Australia. Though, while the handset has been confirmed we are still awaiting some of the important details such as pricing and release date. With that, the handset is the Android 2.1 running Motorola Flipout.

So far the news is coming by way of the Motorola Facebook page which offered this ever so brief message.
We’re so excited to share this with you.. the Motorola FLIPOUT with MOTOBLUR is coming to Australia in early October! FLIPOUT’s a stylishly square and compact smartphone and it runs on Android 2.1. FLIPOUT even comes with removable covers so you can choose from white, red and black to match your style. Check out our website for more info.
And although they do suggest checking the website for more, at least as of this writing, nothing else was available. That said, according to the aptly named Australian Android blog AusDroid, the Flipout is going to be released with Vodafone. Which given we have seen Vodafone offer up the Flipout in other areas seems to make perfect sense. Granted we still need something official from Vodafone. But as of now, the release is expected to come sometime in early-October.
As for specs, the Motorola Flipout comes touting a 2.8 inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display, hardware QWERTY keyboard, 600MHz TI OMAP3410 processor and Android 2.1 with Motoblur version 1.5. Other features include the usual goodies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
In the end, the Flipout will likely not make the perfect phone for everyone. However it is safe to say this should fill a nice niche market — it does look like a nice option for someone looking for an Android smartphone with a keyboard. More important, it should be nice for the social networking generation, that is, as long as it is priced fairly.
