HTC Droid Incredible Comes with Secret 4G Powers, Despite Lack of Actual 4G Network
A strange report brings interesting news about the HTC Droid Incredible today. The Android smartphone, one of Verizon’s current flagship devices, has revealed 4G support that is currently hiding in a menu.

As you can see from the screenshot above, taken from an HTC Droid Incredible, there’s a “Turn on 4G” button in the menu but we all know Verizon doesn’t have any LTE support just yet. And we also know LTE is the way Verizon chose to go when it comes to 4G communications. So how come the option to turn on 4G on the Droid Incredible exists?
Does HTC know something we don’t? Will the Droid Incredible be compatible with Verizon’s LTE network down the road? Is the Droid Incredible going to be one of the first LTE devices? According to a previous leak, the Droid Incredible will see its End-of-Life at the end of March 2011, so is there really any point of turning the device into an LTE-capable handset?
Maybe HTC thought Verizon will deploy its LTE network a lot faster to catch up on rival Sprint when it comes to 4G support. Or maybe the manufacturer intended to offer the Incredible to Sprint too, and thus included WiMAX support on the device.
This all sounds pretty strange so far, but a reasonable explanation has to exist for this screenshot, assuming that we’re looking at a real thing here. Naturally the screenshot could be faked in order to get some attention so we won’t exclude this possibility either.
Or what if this is just a simple HTC-made mistake, a 4G menu where there shouldn’t be one. Call it a human error, keeping that particular menu on the Droid Incredible too? Does anyone from HTC have any idea on how this could have happened? Can you replicate it on your HTC Droid Incredible?
